1. Waterproof everything

Especially around your eyes. Mascara, eyeliner, and brow gel should all be waterproof or smudge-proof formulas so they hold up through the sweat and heat.

2. Keep it light

Try thinner formulas like tinted moisturizer or tinted sunscreen. They feel better on your skin when it's hot out.

Spread your foundation out evenly across your face in one go. You can also mix it with some moisturizer to thin out the consistency.

3. Use primer

A mattifying or sticky primer keeps your skin from looking oily and stops your makeup from sliding off. For eyeshadow, especially anything sparkly, use an eye primer so it doesn't crack or move around. My favorite is the NYX Professional Makeup Glitter Primer. Dab it on with your finger, then use the same finger to press the eyeshadow on top.

4. Set it

Don't skip this step. Use setting powder or setting spray, especially on the T-zone and under your eyes, where everything tends to smudge.

5. How you hold your phone matters

Try not to push your phone into your cheek, especially when you're walking around or already starting to sweat. Use a hands-free device or speakerphone when you can. The phone rubs your makeup right off your face.

6. Sweating after errands?

Gently dab your face with a tissue. Swiping or using your sleeve will drag the makeup off with the sweat.

7. The no-makeup-makeup look

Sometimes the answer is to skip the foundation entirely. Just use a good moisturizer and sunscreen (tinted if you'd like), with liquid blush, highlighter, and a gloss for your lips. This is my go-to, especially after I've gotten some color from the sun.
