Glass Flower Cookies

These look fancy and they're embarrassingly easy. The candy turns into a stained-glass center that catches the light when you hold one up to the window.

Ingredients

What you need

  • Sugar cookie dough (see our favorite recipe here)
  • Flower cookie cutter
  • A smaller round cutter or wide piping tip for the center hole. We used a bottle cap.
  • Lollipops
  • Parchment paper (don't skip it, the candy will weld to anything else)
  • A ziplock bag and glass or rolling pin for crushing.

How to make them

Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut your flowers, then use the smaller cutter to punch a hole in the center of each one.

Move the flowers onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between them.

Crush the lollipops until you have small jagged pieces. Put a couple of pieces in the center of the flowers. Combine colors for a watercolor effect.

Bake until the cookie edges are barely golden and the candy in the middle is fully melted and clear, usually 8-10 minutes.

Pull the tray out and let the cookies cool completely on the pan. Don't touch them while the candy is still warm.

Once cool, peel them off the parchment.
