Adoption: 6-8 million animals end up in shelters each year, and over 12,000 of them find their way right here to the Charleston Animal Society. Animals of all shapes, sizes and breeds come through our doors every day. Visit our shelter and take a look at all of the faces that need a forever home. Chances are you will find the perfect pet right here in your own back yard. Find your new best friend and save a life all at the same time!
Foster an Animal: Charleston Animal Society’s Foster Family Network is 300 families strong– and we still need more. Our foster program is one of the most powerful tools we have to save animal lives. If we can keep animals in foster care until there is room in the shelter– more animals can be adopted. We are always in need of people who can take cats, kittens, dogs or puppies. We will provide all the tools you need to succeed, including all medical care and food!
Lost & Found: If you have lost your pet, you will need to fill out a Lost Animal Report and bring it with you, as soon as possible, to Charleston Animal Society, along with photos of your lost pet so that the staff can keep. Many animals look alike, so it’s very important that you come to Charleston Animal Society to look for your pet. The staff will walk you through the stray animal areas to see if you can identify your pet. Stray animals are held at Charleston Animal Society for five days, so we recommend you look for your pet every three to four days. Filling out a Lost Animal Report does not mean you should stop coming to the shelter to look for your pet. You are responsible for finding your pet.
